Balding or thinning hair is not just a problem with men but with women also. Hair transplant has been performed for years but with the technology today, new standards are being reached. Hair transplant can be done one of two ways. One way is by using the FUE non-surgical technique or the other is the FUT (strip technique).
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
A non-surgical procedure growing in popularity. FUE is permanent hair transplant using a needle-like piercing to make a hole which is 0.8 – 1.2 mm in diameter. The piercing will start from the root and using tweezers to remove the healthy hair, the surgeon will then microscopically transplant the hair follicles to the problem areas.
Follicular Unit Transplantation
A surgical procedure by which a strip is cut from the back of the head, as hair there is stronger than in other areas. Stitches will be used to close the incision. Healthy hair follicles from the strip will then be transplanted into the problem areas. For strip FUT, stitch removal is 6-7 days post op.
Note: Eyebrow, moustache, beard or sideburn transplantation is also possible. For this, our surgeon requires photos of the lower face and left/right side of the face.
